Tyres
Our tyre repair or replacement service ensure optimal performance and safety. We inspect and replace tyres to keep your vehicle’s stopping and handling ability at its best. With our expertise, you can drive with confidence knowing your tyres are safe. All tyres fitted are balanced. Based on your tyre wear, we may suggest wheel alignment, or “tracking,” This process adjusts your vehicle’s wheel angles to the manufacturer’s specifications to ensure optimal performance, improved fuel efficiency, and longer tyre life. Misalignment, often caused by hitting potholes or kerbs, can lead to issues such as uneven tyre wear, pulling to one side, or a vibrating steering wheel.
Suspension
The condition of your car’s suspension is important for your safety because it affects the handling of your vehicle. It is also responsible for your ride comfort and protecting other components on your vehicle. Anything banging or squeaking should get checked out as soon as possible before it causes a break down or damages someithing making the repair more expensive. We can quickly check your car’s suspension on one of our car lifts. Welding is a common and effective way to repair or fabricate suspension components, especially for restoring heavily corroded parts or creating custom setups in motorsports. Most of the time, however, we would supply and fit a replacement part.
Clutch Replacement
Clutches have a life expectancy of 30,000 to 100,000 miles with an average of 60,000 miles. This wide variation is heavily influenced by driving habits, with aggressive driving and city traffic significantly reducing lifespan, while smooth driving and highway cruising can extend it. Factors like regular maintenance, the car’s type, and clutch materials also affect longevity. You can tell your clutch needs replacing if you notice symptoms like a spongy or soft pedal, poor acceleration despite a high engine RPM, a grinding noise when shifting gears, difficulty changing gears, or a distinct burning smell. Other indicators include clutch judder or vibrations, the pedal not returning to its position, and the car moving slowly even when you accelerate.
Timing Belts
A timing belt typically lasts between 50,000 and 100,000 miles or 5 to 10 years, but this varies by vehicle make and model. You’ll know your timing belt needs replacing when you hear a ticking or squealing noise from the engine, experience a misfiring engine, notice reduced engine power, see an oil leak near the front of the engine, or if the vehicle’s check engine light comes on. In the worst case, a completely broken timing belt will cause the engine to fail to start. Breakdown services, like the RAC, do not directly fix a broken timing belt in the sense that they perform the repair themselves. They would tow you to the nearest garage. Wet belts can be less reliable and more expensive to repair.

Regular, consistent oil changes are essential for a timing chain’s longevity, as they provide necessary oil pressure and lubrication for its operation. You should also look out for signs like a rattling or slapping noise during startup, which can indicate a stretched or worn chain and have it inspected by us to prevent potentially catastrophic engine damage.
